SENECA Ensures Compliance with RED Delegated Act

As of today, August 1, 2025, the new application regime of the RED Directive (2014/53/EU) officially comes into force, extending the essential requirements for wireless devices, particularly those with M2M/IIoT connectivity. The most significant changes concern not only efficiency and interoperability but also the introduction of obligations regarding cybersecurity, data protection, and access authentication. These changes align with the broader European regulatory framework, including the NIS2 Directive and the Cyber Resilience Act.

In this context, SENECA has long launched a structured compliance plan to ensure full conformity of its wireless industrial devices.
This process specifically involves edge IIoT products from the Z-PASS2, R-PASS-W, and SSD series, as well as the Z-LTE-WW and MyALARM3 Cloud W-AIR dataloggers, for which all required technical, software, and documentation updates have already been completed by the directive.

For IoT devices not yet included in this initial compliance phase, SENECA will adopt temporary measures, which may include:

  • the temporary suspension of the commercialization of affected products;

  • or the selective limitation of wireless connectivity features to meet regulatory requirements.

The technical and functional characteristics of the affected devices remain unchanged, except for any specific adjustments related to cybersecurity, authentication, or secure data management as mandated by current legislation.

In any case, customers and partners will be promptly informed about timelines, implementation methods, and any operational impacts.
